In this article, we will examine the frontispiece of the manuscript of a hymn by the Spanish composer Cristobal Galan (c. 1620-1684), entitled Si del alma las alas veloces (Valladolid Cathedral ms. 40/8). It consists of three nested squares framing the title, and two ink-drawn symbols above and below the title.
