Hydrocyanic acid flash point

CARBAMALDEHYDE (75-12-7) Combustible liquid (flash point 310°F/154°C oc). Reacts slowly with water, forming hydrocyanic acid and ammonium formate. Incompatible with strong acids, alkali metal acetates, ammonia, cellulose acetate, cresols, isocyanates, metal chlorides, oleum, phenols, polyvinyl alcohol,... [Pg.257]

HYDROCYANIC ACID (74-90-8) Can be self-reactive, forming an explosive mixture with air (flash point 0 F/—18°C). Unless inhibited, material stored more than 90 days may be hazardous. Heat above 356°F/180°C or contact with alkalis or amines can cause explosive polymerization. Violent reaction with strong oxidizers, acetaldehyde. Solutions containing more than 2-5% water are less stable than dry material. Acid solutions react with anunonia, ferric oxide, halogens, ozone. Attacks some plastics, mbber, and coatings. Water solutions attack carbon steels at room temperatures and stainless steels (especially if stabilized with sulfuric acid) above 176°F/80°C. [Pg.630]

HYDROCYANIC ETHER (107-12-0) Forms explosive mixture with air (flash point 36°F/2°C). Reacts with water, steam, or acid, producing hydrogen cyanide fumes. Reacts violently with oxidizers, reducing agents, strong acids, caustic materials. Incompatible with V-bromosuccinimide, sodium nitrate. Attacks most rubbers and plastics, but polyvinyl alcohol has high resistance to permeation. [Pg.631]

Hydrocyanic acid, HCN, is corrosive in addition to toxic. It is also a dangerous fire and explosion risk. It has a wide flammable range of 6 to 41% in air. The boiling point is 79 F, the flash point is 0°F, and the ignition temperature is 1004°F. It is toxic by inhalation, ingestion, and through skin absorption. The TLV of hydrocyanic acid is 10 ppm in air. It is used in the manufacture of acrylonitrile, acrylates, cyanide salts, dyes, rodenticides, and other pesticides. [Pg.361]

TLV equals that of hydrogen cyanide. 10% hydrocyanic acid solution has flash point of 2° C and a vapor pressure of 226mm Hg at 20 C. Log P octanot/water is estimated, cial first aid required in the event of poisoning antidotes must be available (with instructions). Unbreakable packaging preferred if breakable, keep in unbreakable container. [Pg.473]
