Hydrazines sulfonylhydrazines

Reactive halogens in various series have been removed by catalytic hydrogenation with either platinum or palladium catalysts, and other nucleophiles which have been used in chloride displacements include hydroxide ion, alkoxides, hydrosulflde, hydrazine and toluene-p-sulfonylhydrazine, and trimethyl phosphite. 

The key intermediate in these transformations was the hydrazide 83 obtained from the ester 82 by simple treatment with hydrazine hydrate. This intermediate was then transformed by aldehydes, sulfonic chlorides, and isothiocyanates to obtain various aryl hydrazones 84, sulfonylhydrazines 85, and thiocarbazides 86. 

Lee and co-workers reported camphor sulfonyl hydrazines 54 as organocatalysts in enantioselective Diels-Alder reactions of cyclopentadiene and a,[L-unsaturated aldehydes, Scheme 3.21 [34], On the other hand, a similar Diels-Alder cycloaddition reactions with camphor-derived sulfonylhydrazines and HC10 in MeNO were also developed by Langlois, et al. [35]. 

Synthesis of 2,4-Dinitrobenzenesulfonylhydrazine. Addition of 2,4-dinitrobenzenesulfonyl chloride to a cold, stirred solution of 95% hydrazine in THF, provides 2,4-dinitrobenzene-sulfonylhydrazine (19) in 70% yield (eq 9). ...
