Homogenization impact

Initiation of Detonation in LE. The initiation of detonation in LE occurs either heterogeneously or homogeneously, impact initiation of powdery solid expls is a prime... [Pg.589]

The specimens must be placed with sufficient distance between each other (at least 20 mm according to ASTM D5721) and wilh sufficient distance to the wall so that the air flow touches them as extensively as possible. The specimens are usually himg up on an insert lattice or shelve. Any contact with metallic surfaces must be avoided (ASTM D5721). A homogenous impact on the specimens is achieved when the specimens are regularly relocated from the front to the rear and Ifom the top to the bottom (ASTM D5721). [Pg.86]

The van der Waals attraction arises from tlie interaction between instantaneous charge fluctuations m the molecule and surface. The molecule interacts with the surface as a whole. In contrast the repulsive forces are more short-range, localized to just a few surface atoms. The repulsion is, therefore, not homogeneous but depends on the point of impact in the surface plane, that is, the surface is corrugated. [Pg.901]

Thus the kinetic equation may be derived for operator (7.21), though it does not exist for an average dipole moment. Formally, the equation is quite identical to the homogeneous differential equation of the impact theory with the collisional operator (7.27). It is of importance that this equation holds for collisions of arbitrary strength, i.e. at any angle of the field reorientation. From Eq. (7.10) and Eq. (7.20) it is clear that the shape of the IR spectrum... [Pg.234]

There are some aspects of process design in which decisions are based primarily on past experience rather than on quantitative performance models. Problems of this type include the selection of constraction materials, the selection of appropriate models for evaluating the physical properties of homogeneous and heterogeneous mixtures of components, and the selection of safety systems. Advances in expert systems technology and information management will have a profound impact on expressing the solutions to these problems. [Pg.158]

In this brief review we illustrated on selected examples how combinatorial computational chemistry based on first principles quantum theory has made tremendous impact on the development of a variety of new materials including catalysts, semiconductors, ceramics, polymers, functional materials, etc. Since the advent of modem computing resources, first principles calculations were employed to clarify the properties of homogeneous catalysts, bulk solids and surfaces, molecular, cluster or periodic models of active sites. Via dynamic mutual interplay between theory and advanced applications both areas profit and develop towards industrial innovations. Thus combinatorial chemistry and modem technology are inevitably intercoimected in the new era opened by entering 21 century and new millennium. [Pg.11]

In the following, the impact of the micro-channel diameter on the temperature rise due an exothermic gas-phase reaction is investigated. For simplicity, a homogeneous reaction A —> B of order n with kinetic constant k is considered. Inside the micro channel, the time evolution of the radially averaged species concentration c and temperature T is governed by the equations... [Pg.36]

Nitric acid/dichloromethane mixture forms homogeneous solutions which detonate on impact, or with friction or heat. [Pg.280]

After the verification of homogeneity and stability, the characterization of material can take place. Frequently, this step is named certification rather than characterization, which is wrong in view of the discussion about homogeneity and stability and their impact on the reference material. The certification of our reference material is more than the characterization of the material. Flowever, for most people working on the development of measurement methods, the characterization is the most interesting part of the project. This probably explains the huge amount of literature available. [Pg.14]
