High dry hiding

Stieg (62, 63) turned his attention to an explanation of the "high dry hiding effect," showing that it was directly related to film porosity and that film porosity might be numerically expressed by the equations... [Pg.1262]

In aqueous systems, the hydrophilic nature and low water demand enable the easy incorportion of high levels of calcium carbonate with only minor increases in viscosity. Calcium carbonates are normally used in conjunction with other fillers and titanium dioxide to enhance the dry hiding power and rheological properites of the paint system. The optimum particle size range for ground natural filler grades of calcium carbonate in coatings is 3 to 7pm. [Pg.126]

High brightness ultrafine ground and precipitated calcium carbonates are used as Ti02 extenders and opacifiers in water-based paints. They have a higher binder demand than filler grades, but better dry hide and gloss... [Pg.126]

Rain may flood burrows or temporary hiding places of male Funnel-webs, causing an increase in their activity. Funnel-webs are very vulnerable to drying out, so high humid-... [Pg.22]
