Heteronuclear clusters structures

The heteronuclear cluster [Mo3CoS4(H2O)10]4+ has been reported, where the Co is formally zerova-lent.168 The core structure (18) features two edge-linked cubane units with Co—S bridging the two clusters. [Pg.16]

Outside this chapter on general aspects of structure, bonding, syntheses, and reactivities the material will be presented according to the position of the metals in the periodic table. For heteronuclear clusters the compounds will be treated as belonging to the metal later in the periodic table. Compounds mentioned in this review without giving a reference have been dealt with in former reviews. [Pg.4]

The subject of heteronuclear cluster compounds of the transition metals remains an active area of research interest, and was reviewed in the early 1980s by Geoffroy el al. (1,2). Clusters with novel architectures, exemplified by the star clusters of Stone and co-workers (5), continue to be synthesized. Whereas there is undoubtedly strong academic interest in the structure, bonding, and chemical reactivity of heteronuclear clusters in their own right, additional impetus to this field is given by the important relationship between heteronuclear clusters and bimetallic alloy catalysts. This relationship was the subject of a published symposium (4). [Pg.301]

Perhaps another reason for the development of the organometallic chemistry of homonuclear and heteronuclear cluster complexes is the sheer academic fascination at the great synthetic and structural diversity of these molecules. Various aspects of the chemistry of these species, particularly those involving interactions with unsaturated organic molecules, have been discussed in a number of recent publications (9-15). [Pg.170]

The structure ofthe cluster cation [Au9Ag4CLi(PPh2Me)8]+ is shown in (33). The largest heteronuclear cluster so far is [AU22Ag24(PPh3)i2Cllo]. ... [Pg.1459]

Polynuclear inorganic complexes exist in a bewildering array of structural types, such as ionic solids, molecular polymers, extended assemblies of oxoanions, chains and rings, bridged metal complexes, and homonuclear and heteronuclear clusters. This section primarily treats the nomenclature of bridged metal complexes and homonuclear and heteronuclear clusters. Coordination polymers are treated extensively elsewhere.6... [Pg.161]

A series of heteronuclear clusters have been synthesized by incorporating a heteroatom into the sulfur-capped or the alkylidyne-capped trinuclear clusters previously discussed. The first example is constituted by FeCo2[p3-S-Cr (CO)5](CO)9, the structure of which is shown in Fig. 30 [78]. [Pg.135]

Some uncertainty still exists on the exact formulation and structure of a series of redox-active giant heteronuclear clusters formulable as Os20M and/or Os18M3 (M = Hg, Au, Ag). Accordingly, the previously formulated cluster dianion [Os20Hg(C)2(CO)48]2 [195] has been now reassigned as... [Pg.208]
