Heterogeneous process syngas

Selox [Selective oxidation] A process for selectively oxidizing methane to syngas using a proprietary heterogeneous catalyst at temperatures up to 1,000°C. Developed on a laboratory scale by TRW, CA, partly financed by the U.S. Department of Energy in 1983. [Pg.241]

CPO is the heterogeneous reaction of natural gas or liquid hydrocarbons with oxygen and steam at high space velocity over a solid catalyst to produce syngas. The catalyst, support, and optimized operation conditions are the key technological aspects of the process. The oxidant used in the reactor can be air, enriched air, or oxygen. [Pg.133]

Heterogeneous intra and external gradients are included and catalyst effectiveness factors are calculated continuously during the integration. The kinetic rate expressions are intrinsic rates. This is definitely the preferred model, but rigorous modelling of transport processes is tedious for all catalyst sizes and shapes in syngas processes. [Pg.160]

Other applications of convective reforming are associated with recovery of the process gas heat in ammonia and methanol plants [395] [479] and lately also in ATR-based syngas units for GTL plants as discussed in Chapter 2. Design and simulation of such a reformer is shown in [519], where the two-dimensional heterogeneous model has been applied using the kinetics in [525]. A homogeneous model has also been used, and almost identical temperature profiles have been foimd. [Pg.179]
