Herpes virus hominis

Herpes simplex, caused by Herpes virus hominis is one of the most common infections of humans throughout the world. There are two major antigenic types type 1 (HSV 1) which is traditionally associated with facial infection, and type 2 (HSV 2), which is typically genital, although there is considerable overlap in disease manifestations. In some circumstances, an occupational origin can be postulated.

Antiviral activity of a sage extract was observed by measuring an inhibition plaque toward Herpes hominis 11 VP 75 (type 2), Influenza A2 mannheim 57 and Vaccine virus. 

Herpes Simplex Virus Type 2 (HSV-2) A virus that typically causes genital herpes, but which can also cause oral lesions. Known also as Herpes Hominis Virus.
