It is notable that EPS stimulates both suppressor T cells and helper T cells while ICA enhances only the helper T cell and depresses the suppressor T cells. This suggests that the two active substances of the plant, act as complements as well as counterparts in modulating the immune system [46]. Herba Epimedii has found wide clinical and pharmacological application (Tab. 10), mainly for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, hypertension and neurasthenia.
