The hemorrhagic type is the commonest and conforms to the classical picture of Schonlein-Henoch purpura. The main feature of the condition are petechial haemorrhages, ranging from pinhead- to coin-size and appearing preferentially on dependent parts of the body. Urticarial lesions may accompany the purpura. In severe cases there are also vesicular, bullous, and ulcerating lesions. [Pg.142]

Historically, NECT was the only CT method available. Even in modern stroke MDCT, the evaluation always starts with standard NECT. NECT allows one to differentiate between hemorrhagic and ischemic stroke, and also to exclude many other differential diagnoses. In case of a subarachnoid haemorrhage (SAH), a subsequent intracranial CTA should be performed (see Sect. 10.3.4) (Tomandl et al. 2003). If no haemorrhage or other obvious reasons for stroke-like symptoms are identified and contraindications for the administration of contrast medium are absent, the next step is usually... [Pg.127]

Nevertheless, during the ablation process some bleeding - or probably better hemorrhagic diapede-sis - can be appreciated, which is usually self-limiting and represents haemorrhage due to thermal damage to the tumour s capillaries. [Pg.15]
