Extinguisher Halon

The Montreal Protocol of September 1987 restricts the production of certain halon extinguishing agents, most notably Halon 1301. Existing halon fire protection systems may remain in service. However, the dwindling supply of halon continues to drive up the cost of recharging existing systems. [Pg.138]

Eugenol has a flash point of 104°C (219°F), and the substance is combustible. Fires involving eugenol can be controlled with a dry chemical, carbon dioxide, or Halon extinguisher, and a water spray may also be used [4],... [Pg.159]

L AURYL ALCOHOL, ETHOXYLATED (9002-92-0) CjoH O, C,U,0 Cnll2,0 Combustible liquid (flash point 235°F/113 C Fire Rating 1). Incompatible with strong acids, caustics, aliphatic amines, isocyanates. On small fires, use dry chemical,CO2, or Halon extinguishers. A water spray may also be used. See also dodecanol. [Pg.627]

Powder) alcohol-resistant foam C02, or Halon extinguishers. [Pg.803]

TITANIUM DIOXIDE (13463-67-7) TlOj Powders or dust reacts with strong acids, strong oxidizers. Violent reaction with aluminum, calcium, hydrazine, lithium, magnesiiun, potassium, sodium, zinc, especially at elevated temperatures. Dust or powder can ignite and then explode in a carbon dioxide atmosphere. On small fire use dry chemical powder, or Halon extinguishers. [Pg.1010]

FIRE FIGHTING Control fires with a dry chemical, carbon dioxide, or Halon extinguisher. [Pg.165]

In the event of a hydrogen fire, shut off the flow of gas. Small fires may be extinguished by dry chemical, CO2, or Halon extinguishers. Use water to keep fire-exposed confainers cool. [Pg.402]

NFPA 430,2.11.6.2 4.4.2.2 Halon extinguishers shall not be used in oxidizer storage areas. [Pg.202]

Carbon dioxide and Halon extinguishers are useful in a laboratory where delicate and expensive equipment may be damaged by foam or powder. [Pg.141]

Even though there are restrictions on its use, because of its excellent fire extinguishing properties Halon 1211 is frequently used in flammable storerooms, especially small stock rooms where self-contained units can be simply hung Irom the ceiling. Most portable Halon extinguishers are filled with Halon 1211. [Pg.187]

In most cases of electric fires, plastic insulation will be burning. For this reason, carbon dioxide or halon extinguishers are preferred in order to prevent damage to the equipment. Water or foam must not be applied unless the system has been de-ener-gized. [Pg.408]

Hcdon extinguishers. These are the so-called clean agents that leave no residue but are effective as ABC extinguishing agents. Halon extinguishers, containing bromochlorodifluoromethane or bromotrifluoromethane, were used for many years however, Halon use was phased out in 2000 as a result of the Montreal Protocol... [Pg.106]

Hakm Halogenated extinguishing agent. Halon extinguishes fires by inhibiting the chemical reaction of fuel and oxygen. [Pg.857]
