Haloid salts ethers

The haloid salts of the amines may also be produced by the union of the haloid ethers of the monad positive radicals with the amines (for reaction see p. 366). 

Some colouring matters containing chlorine, such as eosin, may leave ash containing haloid salts. In this case the solution of the colouring matter, addified with sulphuric acid, may be extracted with ether and the aqueous liquid tested for chlorine and sodium. 

The haloid ethers are the representatives of the bydracids of mineral chemistry, and unite directly with ammonia, pro dueiug salts which, when treated with potassio hydrate, yield compound ammonias containing the basylous radical of the haloid ether in the place of one atom of hydrogen —... 

The acids fix>ni which they are derived maybe either mineral or organic but the base must always be organic. The haloid ethereal salts are excluded ibom tUs mily thqr have been already described as haloid ethers.
