Hairpin information

Messenger ENA transfers genetic information from DNA to ribosomes for protein synthesis. Transfer ENA and ribosomal ENA are also involved in protein synthesis. ENA can be structurally complex single ENA strands can be folded into hairpins, double-stranded regions, or complex loops. 

Construction of a hairpin ribozyme targeting more than one site within the substrate RNA also yields further insight into the structural limits of hairpin ribozyme-catalyzed RNA processing and can provide information on the structural and mechanistic requirements of catalysis. 

For studies of hematological malignancies, the sequence-specific fluorescence probe-based systems provide the advantage of an important further test for identification of the sequence of interest by virtue of hybridization of fluo-rescently labeled internal probes to the amplified target sequence. The most commonly used sequence-specific chemistries include the exonuclease (TaqMan), the linear hybridization probe, and the hairpin-based (Molecular Beacon) systems.
