Normal androgen control of hair growth (i.e., control of the anagen/telogen cycle and the subsequent alteration of hairs to different sizes) may be considered as occurring in five distinct stages or steps see Figure 1-10. 

Hair growth resumes 2 months after therapy has stopped. The loss affects the anagen but not telogen hairs thus, eyebrow and body hair is relatively spared. 

Mesenchymal stem cells in the tissue sheath serve as a reservoir for new DP cells. The DP determines the size of the anagen hair bulb, the duration of anagen and hair shaft diameter [20, 29, 30]. In adult hair, DP maintains the vascular system that provides the nutritional support and hormonal regulation required for hair growth [31]. 

The growth of new pigmented coarse hair was already observed after 3-4 procedures, i.e., within 10-14 days. This was manifested as a symptom of prickly hair . The new hair was darker than before. After 3—5 courses of treating alopecia with l-(chloromethyl)silatrane the number of anagenic hairs increased to 35%, and after 20—25 treatments to 75%. During the whole course of treatment the follicles of the hairy part of the head were actively changing to an anagenic cycle.
