Hair body defined

Over the past several years, those three elusive cosmetic terms—hair conditioning, hair body, and manageability—have been defined in ways that have permitted progress to be made in terms of understanding these important hair properties as well as stimulating new methods for their measurement. 

Hair body has been defined by Robbins and Scott [1] as thickness or apparent volume of a hair assembly, involving sight and touch for assessment. This definition does not lend itself to one simple method for measurement however, it does help to improve our understanding of this important hair property, and it has permitted us to propose several scientific tests that correlate with hair body. For a more complete discussion, see the section on hair body later in this chapter. 

Body is defined in the textile trade as that compact, soft, or firm-feel of textile stock or fabric [161]—a tactile property. With regard to human hair, body may be defined as thickness or apparent volume of a hair assembly, involving sight and touch for assessment. The quality of liveliness or springiness [162] is also associated with hair body. Hough et al. [2] have defined body as the structural strength and resiliency of a hair mass, which is consistent with the preceding definitions. 

Such is not the case with zinc deficiency. While symptoms of zinc deficiency can be as vague as those in iron deficiency, there is no simple diagnostic test which defines the condition. Zinc concentrations in blood, urine or hair commonly do not accurately reflect body zinc status (1 -3) Although zinc is the major trace element found in fixed body tissues less than 1% of the approximate 2.5 g of total body zinc is circulating in blood ( ) while for iron, the major trace element found in the circulation, over 50% of the approximate 4.0 g of total body iron is found in blood and blood forming systems (5). 

In this trip to Saturn we see Tricabo, a monstrous being with a semihuman body, two well-defined heads and one that is barely noticeable, with ears like a dog and hair of flyingpoisonous feathers like darts, with which it defends itself. It carries a flying snake called angash-huacra [blue snake with horns] that is very aggressive. 

The word, gel, is ill-defined with regard to cosmetics. Generally, those materials that have high viscosity, and that are homogeneous and trans-parent/translucent are called gels. Gels used for cleansing cosmetics also are used to clean other cosmetic products such as those used for make-up, hair care, and body care. However, the components included are different...
