Large belite nests were shown to be indicative of poor grindability, even though the same clinker may have relatively high porosity. Clusters of belite crystals remained undivided even at the final grinding stage. 

United Resource Recovery Corporation This outfit were the originators of the UnPET and ElybridUnPET processes. The former appears to be a saponification process. The latter is less clear, but appears to at least include an additional grinding stage to increase the efficiency of the overall process. The company is currently mainly involved in licensing out these processes to other recyclers. The website is www.urrc.net. 

Iron minerals and tramp iron introduced from the crushing and grinding stages can often be removed conveniently before leaching by electromagnetic separation. This has been shown to result in substantial economies in the use of leaching acid when the grade of ore is of the same order as, or even less than, the iron content.
