Green chemistry international organizations

In Italy, the Interuniversity National Consortium Chemistry for the Environment (INCA) was founded in 1993 and rapidly become an internationally recognized reference center for green chemistry. The many initiatives include the periodical School on Green Chemistry, the organization of the first International lUPAC Conference on Green Chemistry and the Green Chemistry Publication Series. INCA is also the hub center for IGN, as indicated above. [Pg.3]

Many individuals and organizations start down the path to green chemistry by first becoming aware of chemicals of concern in the products that they make or use. This awareness may come via regulations, internal priorities or external pressure from concerned stakeholders. Chemicals of concern satisfy two requirements ... [Pg.280]

Over the years, the EPAs Green Chemistry Program has collaborated vhth several organizations internationally. The most important being the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the International Union of... [Pg.2]

Many of the traditional solvents that are favoured by organic chemists have been blacklisted by international regulations, for instance chlorinated hydrocarbon solvents have been severely curtailed. Thus, the question of the solvent requires a major rethink in terms of green chemistry issues this need is driving the search for alternative reaction media. Such media are the basis of many of the cleaner chemical technologies that have reached commercial development. Typical non-conventional reaction media are supercritical carbon dioxide (31.1 °C, 73 atm)22 and supercritical water (374 °C, 218 atm), water under PjT standard conditions, " room-temperature ionic liquids,up to and including solvent-free conditions. ... [Pg.6]
