Graphite surface plasmon

Another example listed in the table is graphite, the Frohlich mode of which is near 5.5 eV (2200 A) the boundaries of the negative e region are about 4 and 6.5 eV. The graphite surface plasmon has been tentatively identified as responsible for a feature in the interstellar extinction spectrum (see Section 14.5).

Molecule 11 forms amphiphilic Pockels-Langmuir monolayers at the air-water interface, with a collapse pressure of 34 mN m and collapse areas of 50 A at 20 °C these monolayers transfer on the upstroke only, with transfer ratios around 100% onto hydrophilic glass, quartz, or aluminum,or onto fresh hydrophilic Au, but transfer poorly on the downstroke onto graphite, with a transfer ratio of only abont 50%. Roche et al. developed a surface plasmon resonance sensor for dextromethorphan based on a molecularly imprinted beta-cyclodextrin polymer with a detection limit of 0.035 pM and a dynamic range of 0.035 pM to 6.00 mM, depending on the instrumental setup [412].
