Graphite oxide catalyst

Some results of the reduction of hematite by graphite at 907 to 1,007°C in the presence of lithium oxide catalyst were correlated by the equation 1 — (1 — xY = kt. The reaction of solids ilmenite and carbon has the mechanism... [Pg.2124]

Carbothermic reactions are sohd-sohd reactions with carbon that apparently take place through intermediate CO and CO2. The reduction of iron oxides has the mechanism Fe Oy-H CO =>xFe-t C02, C02 + C=>2C0. The reduction of hematite by graphite at 907 to 1007°C in the presence of hthium oxide catalyst was correlated by the equation 1 — (1 — x) = kt. The reaction of sohd ihnenite ore and carbon has the mechanism FeH03-l- CO=>Fe -I-Ti02 + C02, CO2 + C = 2CO. A similar case is the preparation of metal carbides from metal and carbon, C -I- 2H2 CH4, Me -I- CH4 MeC -I- 2H2. [Pg.2138]

Straightforward application of an oxidation catalyst to a flow through monolith will result in the oxidation of adsorbed hydrocarbons and partly the graphitic nuclei of the soot. This system is able to reduce particulate emissions up to 50 % and is considered to be an intermediate solution [1]. The ultimate goal will be the complete removal of the soot. In general, in soot oxidation two sohds, namely catalyst and soot, and a gas phase are involved. The interaction between the catalyst and the soot under practical conditions is poor. To achieve sufficiently high oxidation rates, this contact between catalyst and soot has to be improved [2]. [Pg.656]

In direct oxidation of L-xyZo-hexulose (L-sorbose) to L-xt/Zo-hexulosonic acid, with graphite electrodes in the presence of alkali (or alkaline-earth) halides, nitrates, nitrites, or borates, the yields of the acid did not exceed 35%. It was recommended that the electro-oxidation of 2,3 4,6-di-O-isopropylidene-a-L-sorbofuranose be performed in the presence of bromine, or bromide, and oxidation catalysts (for example, water-soluble nitrites or nitrates) within the pH range 6.5-8.0. Fioshin and co-workers have studied the electrosynthesis of 2,3 4,6-di-O-isopropyl-... [Pg.123]
