Graphical overlays

This same [e] experimental protocol leads to a graphical overlay plot that yields valuable kinetic information if the two experiments described in Table 50.1 are plotted together as reaction rate vs. [2], the two curves will fall on top of one another ( overlay ) over the range of [2] common to both only if the rate is not significantly influenced by changes in the overall catalyst concentration within the cycle, including catalyst activation, deactivation or product inhibition. Overlay in same excess plots, therefore, may be used to confirm catalyst robustness or identify problems such as catalyst deactivation or product inhibition.

Within an immersive AR application, the user is equipped with a Head-Mounted Device (HMD). This device can be either an optical see-through or video see-through solution. The user sees the world through the HMD, including the virtual graphical overlay. Often the HMD also includes tracking of the position and rotation of the head. 

Graphical overlay of distribution curves can serve for comparison of a set of samples and finding even subtle differences among them. Note Instead using the weight fraction it is possible to use the mole fraction. The frequency functions are then called the number distribution functions and subscripts w and n can be used in order to differentiate between the weight distribution and number distribution, respectively. 

Comparison of partial stroke curves from past tests can indicate the gradual degradation of valve components. Use of overlay graphics, identification of unhealthy shifts in servodrive, increases in valve friction, and changes in dynamic response provide information leading to a diagnosis of needed maintenance. 

More complex DOS programs need to be installed, rather than just copied, to work properly. One example is PC Tools from Central Point Software. PC Shell is a DOS shell with a bit of a graphical look and feel that can be used for file management. It s made up of a collection of files that fit onto several floppies but can work together only on a larger drive. Some of the utilities included in this suite can be run from the floppy, but others require the presence of overlay files and device drivers that span more than one floppy disk.
