Granular lithium carbonate

Mixtures of granular lithium with perhalogenated carbon compounds such as poly-chlorotrifluoroethylene, (ClFCCF2)n, (PCTFE), are reported to yield low combustion temperatures when reacted in confinement (constant volume). The measured combustion temperatures are given below in Table 8.7. Thermochemical codes fail to converge for these fuel-rich stoichiometries as the reaction products are in the condensed phase exclusively. 

Anhydrous lithium hydroxide is white, granular, and free flowing. It readily absorbs both carbon dioxide and water from the atmosphere. Both the hydroxide and the monoxide have a marked irritating effect on the skin. The hydroxide has a density of 2.54 g./cc.
