BEJAR, E., ENRIQUEZ, R., LOZOYA, X., The in vitro effect of grandiflorenic acid and zoapatle aqueous crude extract upon spontaneous contractility of the rat uterus during estrus cycle., J. Ethnopharmacol., 1984,11,87-97. [Pg.308]

The Kaurene Series.—The resin of Espeletia grandiflora contains (—)-kaurene, (-)-kaur-16-en-19-ol, the C-19 aldehyde and acid, as well as grandiflorolic acid [15a-hydroxy-( —)-kaur-16-en-19-oic acid] (70) and grandiflorenic acid [(-)-kaur-9(ll),16-dien-19-oic acid] (71). ( —)-Kaur-16-en-19-oic acid and 16a-kauran-19-oic acid, together with polyalthic acid and eperu-8(17)-en-15,18-dioic acid, have been isolated from Copaifera langsdorjii. The rhizome of the... [Pg.140]

The kaurans present in M. tomentosa and M. frutescens have been extensively studied. This chemical group is relatively abundant in nature and arises by simple oxidation and/or epoxidation and hydrolysis reactions. They are precursors of giberellic acid and therefore have demonstrated activity as plant regulators [35]. The kaurenes have uterotonic and uterorelaxant effects but also display a wide spectrum of antimicrobial and fungicidal activities especially kauren-19-oic acid. Grandiflorenic acid (Kauradienoic acid, GA) is weakly active against Bacillus subtilis, and the methyl ester compounds appear to be less active [35]. [Pg.811]
