Grain stamping

Fournier, Wood-grain stamping foil, Kurz-Hastings... 

It is applied along with traditional methods to test strength properties, hardness, to determine standardized characteristics of stamping, grain size and other structural-sensitive characteristics. 

In manufacture, the abrasive grain is mixed with cmde mbber, sulfur, and other ingredients for curing, then passed through calender roUs to produce a sheet of desired thickness. The wheels are stamped from this sheet and heated under pressure to vulcanise the mbber. 

In the case of sheet and strip for drawing or stamping, coarse grain may give a rough surface. On the other hand, metal with too fine a grain size may lack plasticity and crack in the dies therefore, a compromise must he reached. 

Metallics, wood grains or multicolor, depending on foil. Foil can be specially formulated (for example, chemical resistance) Multicolor or single color metallics (not as good as hot stamp). 

Other powders of very large surface area are the flaked materials, which formerly were made by stamping, but are now produced from coarser grained powder by ball-milling in the presence of an organic solvent, stearic acid, or oleic acid. Except in fireworks items, flakes are now little used in pyrotechnics because they make compositions bulky and hard to consolidate. 

The term refers to wood graining on plastics. This can be done by hand, roller coating, hot stamping, or printing. A crystalline allotropic form of carbon.
