Bureau, I., Dieudonne, S., Coussen, F and Mulle, C. (2000) Kainate receptor-mediated synaptic currents in cerebellar Golgi cells are not shaped by diffusion of glutamate. Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA 97,6838-6843. [Pg.44]

The GCL is the deepest neuronal layer in the bulb, and it contains the largest number of cells. Most of the neurons of the GCL are the GCs, but there are also small numbers of Golgi cells, Cajal cells, and Blanes cells. As discussed earlier, the GCs are inhibitory GABAergic cells that form dendrodendritic synapses with mitral/tufted cells in the EPL. [Pg.160]

Neki A, Ohishi H, Kaneko T, Shigemoto R, Nakanishi S, Mizuno N (1996b) Metabotropic glutamate receptors mGluR2 and mGluR5 are expressed in two non-overlapping populations of Golgi cells in the rat cerebellum. [Pg.95]

Glutamate is a key neurotransmitter in the cerebellum mossy fibres onto granule cells parallel fibres onto Purkinje and stellate/basket cells, climbing fibres onto Purkinje cells, and also mossy fibre and climbing fibre inputs onto Golgi cells all use glutamate (Fig. 19) (Voogd... [Pg.129]

Fig. 3. Sagittal section of the cerebellar cortex imtnunolabeled (pre-embedding immunoperoxidase) for NRI. Labeling is found in most or all neurons, including Purkinje cells (Pj), granule cells (Gr), Golgi cells (Go), and small cells of the molecular layer (arrowheads). Arrows, Purkinje cell dendrites. Modified from Petralia et al. (1994a). Fig. 3. Sagittal section of the cerebellar cortex imtnunolabeled (pre-embedding immunoperoxidase) for NRI. In the next section we report findings in GAD mRNA levels in specific neuronal types within the cerebellar circuitry in the Crus II region. Much has been recently published (Yip et al, 2007, 2008, 2009) with new results reported here for Golgi cells labeled with a probe for GAD65 mRNA. [Pg.100]

Fig. 3 Scatter plot showing the mean levels of GAD67 mRNA-labehng in Golgi cells in seven control cases (circles) and eight subjects with autism (squares) sampled from 60 cells per subject (1.97 1.17 pixels/ttm control 2.21 2.36 pixels/ttm autism). Statistical analysis did not show a significant difference in GAD67 mRNA levels in the autistic group compared to age-, PMI-, and pH-matched controls (student t-test and Levene s test for equality of variances F = 2.981 p = 0.401 control, and p = 0.384 autism)...
