G6. Gmelin s Handbuch der anorganischen Chemie, 8th ed., Gmelin-Institiit Verlag Chemie, Weinheim. [Pg.455]

The subject of chlorine oxyfluorides has been reviewed in 1963 by Schmeisser and Brandle (253) and in 1969 in Gmelin s Handbuch der... [Pg.319]

The very extensive literature on the preparation of hydrogen bromide is completely and concisely reviewed in Gmelin s Handbuch. 1 The methods most commonly used involve the hydrolysis of certain bromides, particularly the action of bromine on red phosphorus and water the action of bromine on hydrocarbons, particularly on tetralin and the direct combination of the elements. The action of bromine on tetralin is a convenient one for small-scale laboratory operation.2 The direct combination of the elements has certain advantages of simplicity and cleanliness, especially when considerable amounts of hydrogen bromide are required. Platinum and charcoal have frequently been used as catalysts but they can be dispensed with at sufficiently high temperatures.3... [Pg.38]

Note added in proof. This statement is no longer correct. The Gmelin-Institut has commenced publication of volumes in the 8th edition of Gmelin s Handbuch der anorganische Chemie specifically concerned with organometallic compounds. The first volume describes the derivatives of vanadium and chromium. [Pg.295]

Type 3 complexes are very common, and numerous examples are mentioned in Gmelin s Handbuch der Anorganischen Chemie 29). The reactions o the thiones S=OR R (R = Ph, R = Ph, p-MeOCsH4) and S=CC(Ph) TPh, reported independently by Alper and Chan (27) and Weiss and co-workers 23), involve cleavage of one C—S bond and inter-molecular sulfur transfer. The ligands are 6er donors. The latter reaction also involves an unusual coupling of two cyclopropenethione molecules. [Pg.7]
