Hydroxy anthraquinone glycosides

Anthrone or its tautomer anthrol or its hydroxy derivatives (i.e., the aglycones) are found to exert purgative effects. However, the anthraquinone glycosides are usually present in several herbal drugs, such as senna, cascara, rhubarb and aloes.
