Gibbs energy liquid methanol

DMFC transforms directly the Gibbs energy of combustion of methanol into electricity, without a fuel processor (Figure 9.7). This greatly simplifies the system reducing its volume and cost. Recent development of DMFC is due to the use of proton-exchange membrane as electrolyte, instead of liquid acid electrolyte, as previously done [13]. 

C" and thus correspond to higher molar Gibbs energy. We conclude then that state A", consisting of a mixture of liquids B" and C", is the most stable among all single or two-phase systems that can be constructed. Accordingly, state C" is identified as liquid phase I (methanol saturated in carbon disulfide) and state B" with liquid phase II (carbon disulfide saturated in methanol).
