Germination seedling

A small amount of fungicide is used by cane breeders to control damping off in flats of newly germinated seedlings. 

Extracts (12 mL each) were added to Petri dishes 10 cm in diameter containing 50 g of 30-mesh washed sand covered with filter paper circle (7-cm diameter, Whatman 1). Controls were moistened with doubly distilled water. Ten indicator seeds were placed on the filter paper in each dish with the embryo down and the hypocotyl pointed to the center of the Petri dish. Each indicator/extract combination had 3 replicates. The Petri dishes were kept in a dark growth chamber for approximately 72 hr at 25°C. The radicle length of each germinated seedling was measured at 72 hr. 

Not only is it present in the animal proteins, but also in the vegetable ones, from which it passes by the action of enzymes into the extracts of germinating seedlings, as shown by Schulze and his co-workers. Leucine is, with the exception of arginine, the most widespread of all the amino acids which go to make up the protein molecule. 

The phytotoxicity of the polyphenolic compounds was tested on radish germination, seedling growth (Table 15.2) and algal growth (Table 15.3). Compounds 1, 4, 6 and 7 could not be tested due to insufficient amount for bioassay and were not commercially available. 

Herbicide absorbed by foliage and germinating seedlings tissue... 

Germinate the soaked beans for 5 days at 30°C in moist vermiculite. If the vermiculite dries out, germination will be poor. Alternatively, if it is too moist the germinating seedlings may be overrun with a black mold. Sterilization of the vermiculite is useful if mold contamination becomes serious. CASTOR BEANS ARE EXTREMELY POISONOUS AND USUALLY FATAL IF TAKEN INTERNALLY. 

Rockwool may also be used at all stages of the growing process. Small 2 cubes are perfect tor germinating seedlings or clones, and may be placed on top of larger rockwool units for pre-blooming and blooming. Rockwool may be used in slab, cube, or loose form. 1 prefer the loose form in the upper portion of the hydroponic containers, and cubes for seeds and clones. 

Browallias grow easily from seed. Sow indoors in March. Do not cover seed they need light to germinate. Seedlings appear in 2 weeks. Pinch when 6" tall for bushier plants. Transplant when night temperatures remain consistently above 50°F space 10" apart.

Papaverine and other benzylisoquinoline alkaloids have been isolated from Russian Kirghiz opium.70 Examination of opium samples from various localities in Korea has revealed that papaverine content does not vary from area to area.71 Four species of Papaveraceae have been examined for relative amounts of papaverine and other alkaloids in different segments of plant tissue.72 A study of the variation with time of papaverine content in the germinating seedling of Papaver somniferum has been reported.73...
