Geotextiles in aquaculture

An offshore net cage is a fishing net system with a frame structure and a geotextile net cage. It can be used to raise different kinds of fish within a confined space using fresh and clean seawater. Farmed fish have a quahty similar to that of fish caught in the ocean. 

In general, highly economical fish are raised in net cages, such as Japanese sea perch, Rachycentron canadum, red porgy (sea bream), and river snapper, in tropical

PP geotextile tubes can be used for aquaculture waste management and disposal. Woven PP geotextile tubes can dewater waste to around 15% solids within a short period and achieve a final solids content of over 30%. A model tube test was initially conducted but further work is required for a more representative geotextile tube study.
