The statistical model fitting is performed to estimate the parameters of the model. These estimates then provide information concerning the Influence of each demographic and geographic factor on concentration level of the composite. [Pg.182]

Little information has been published on the climatic and geographical factors affecting the composition of CBA fats. It can be assumed, however, that components which vary in cocoa butter with location, etc., also change in other confectionery fats, although these effects are nullified somewhat by refining and fractionation. Comprehensive details of the acylglycerol and fatty acid composition of illipe butters from several Shorea species are presented with description of cultivation and harvesting in Blicher-Mathiesen (1994) and some details of the cultivation and uses of shea have been described by Ruiz Mendez and Huesa Lope (1991). [Pg.72]

The term acid rain is commonly used to describe phenomena associated with both wet and dry deposition. The effects of man-made airborne substances on indoor surfaces are expected to be different from and less dramatic than those on outdoor surfaces. In the outdoor environment, both the species contained in the rain or fog droplets and the added influence of substances previously deposited on the surfaces by dry deposition will impact the surfaces. For very brief rain events, the surface concentrations of many species are likely to be substantial, due to the combined effects of accumulated dry deposition and the high concentrations of species that have been commonly associated with the early stages of a rain event. The available data indicate that roughly 70 percent of the total deposition is dry deposition. Hansen and Hidy (2), in their assessment of existing rain chemistry data, discuss the influence of geographical factors on pH and state that in western arid areas of the United States, soil-derived substances elevate the pH in the early stages of a rain event, while in the northeastern... [Pg.216]

Hydrogen infrastructure build-up is much more relevant for mobile applications than for stationary ones. How hydrogen supply infrastructure would develop and what this would look like depends heavily on country-specific conditions such as the available feedstocks (such as renewable energies), population density and geographic factors, and must therefore be assessed on a country-by-country basis. Nevertheless, it is possible to derive some robust strategies and cross-national communalities. [Pg.245]

Renewable sources are attractive for sustainability - e.g., wind, hydro, tidal, solar etc., and geographic factors will determine where each is appropriate. However, the sheer size of overall demand points to solar - the solar resource far outstrips all others. With a global usable energy flux of 120 PW, it is some 8,000 times the current total energy use, and able to supply growing demand as far ahead as we can see [6]. [Pg.279]
