Genetic products development

IT advances have already had a major beneficial impact on medical product development and registration. Some of the major advances in this area are electronic filing of applications for regulatory approval, RCDC, and clinical trial management software. The application of software to the analysis of the genetic profile of large patient populations is an example of the powerful intersection of pharmacogenomics and IT. 

One way or another, the new techniques of genetic manipulation and analysis will find their way into industrial production of more efficient biologically active novel natural products from filamentous microorganisms. This process is already under way. The major pharmaceutical companies are at the forefront of progress in applying state-of-the-art techniques to strain and product development. 

Thus, the genome goes from the incipient state to childhood, adult life, senescence, and death, and as it does it expresses itself in different forms. Childhood would be the time when the genetic mechanisms develop, and adulthood would result in an escape from the single cellular state to the production of animals and plants. Genomic senescence (the absolute energy valley) may be an inescapable phenomenon that will eventually lead to the extinction of species. 

The drug Dlurizan, a product of Myriad Genetics, was developed in one of 22 research projects supported by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, MD, and it has an anti-inflammatory effect. Dlurizan is thought to lower the production of plaques.
