Generic Containership

Containerships follow the general pattern that all internationally trading cargo ships do, but they differentiate in various aspects, of which, the primary ones appear to be as follows  [Pg.95]

Containerships are generally fitted with thrusters (bow and/or stem) and in several cases active rodders. This coupled by the advanced hydrostatic features (i.e. block coefficient) of these vessels, results in a high level of manoeuvrability at all speed levels. High speeds, nevertheless, tend to reduce the time available for reaction by operators, adversely affecting the human reliability in close quarters situations. [Pg.95]
