General Introduction to Mossbauer Spectroscopy

General Introduction to Mossbauer Spectroscopy Unstable parent nucleus... [Pg.3]

In Chap. 1 is written by Saburo Nasu, the reader will find a general introduction to Mossbauer Spectroscopy. What is the Mossbauer effect and What is the characteristic feature of Mossbauer spectroscopy These questions are answered briefly in this chapter. Mossbauer spectroscopy is based on recoilless emission and resonant absorption of gamma radiation by atomic nuclei. Since the electric and magnetic hyperfine interactions of Mossbauer probe atom in solids can be described from the Mossbauer spectra, the essence of experiments, the hyperfine interactions and the spectral line shape are discussed. A few typical examples are also given for laboratory experiments and new nuclear resonance techniques with synchrotron radiation. [Pg.312]

This first chapter provides an introduction to Mossbauer spectroscopy and a background for the subsequent chapters. Hence the next few pages contain a general discussion of the Mossbauer effect, the conditions necessary for its observation, and the way in which Mossbauer... [Pg.1]

In this chapter, we present a general introduction to the Mossbauer spectroscopy, although the many excellent textbooks for the Mossbauer effect and its spectroscopy have been already published [5-15]. First we discuss the nuclear... [Pg.1]

In this chapter, a general introduction to the Mossbauer spectroscopy has been described. First the Mossbauer effect with recoiUess emission and absorption of nuclear y-ray using radioactive source is described and emphasized the extremely narrow bandwidth that is the most important feature of the Mossbauer spectroscopy ... [Pg.19]

The book opens with a short introduction into the nature of iron oxides. This is followed by a discussion of general preparative techniques (chapter 2). In chapter 3, techniques for characterization of the products - color measurement, electron microscopy. X-ray diffraction, infra red absorption spectroscopy, surface area measurement, thermoanalysis and Mossbauer spectroscopy - are briefly described with particular emphasis on their application to Fe oxides. [Pg.2]
