Pz = Pzz as well as the total pressure Pjot = Px + Py + Pz, then for symmetry reasons Px = Py, and this symmetry holds with good aeeuraey in our data (Fig. 20(e)). Generally one finds from the simulation that the total pressure follows the density profile. The pressure tensor Pap(z) is very useful... [Pg.597]

Cardiovascular Effects. There is currently considerable scientific debate as to whether there is a causal relationship between lead exposure and hypertension. Another area of controversy is whether African Americans are more susceptible to the cardiovascular effects of lead than are whites or Hispanics. The evidence from both occupational studies and large-scale general population studies (i.e., National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey [NHANES II], British Regional Heart Study [BRHS]) is not sufficient to conclude that such a causal relationship exists between PbB levels and increases in blood pressure. The database on lead-induced effects on cardiovascular function in humans will be discussed by presenting a summary of several representative occupational studies followed by a discussion of the findings from the large-scale general population studies. [Pg.50]

If the Attorney General finds that the scheduling of a substance in schedule I on a temporary basis is necessary to avoid an imminent hazard to the public safety, he may, by order and without regard to the requirements of subsection (b) of this section relating to the Secretary of Health and Human Services, schedule such substance in schedule I if the substance is not listed in any other schedule in section 812 of this title or if no exemption or approval is in effect for the substance under section 505 of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (21 U.S.C. 355). Such an order may not be issued before the expiration of thirty days from —... [Pg.235]

It has been known experimentally(4) that much of the second order susceptibility generally arises from the lowest singlet excited state. For any particular molecule, the recently introduced Missing States Analysis (MSA)(5,6). can show, via calculation, to what extent P is dominated by the first excited state. For instance, the P of p-nitroaniline has been shown by MSA to be heavily dominated by the first excited state, at least with a PPP (Pariser-Pople-Parr) Hamiltonian and standard basis. The result of these findings is that one can often approximate Equation (4) by including only one excited state in the sum, there-by arriving at a two-level model ... [Pg.687]
