Gene incomplete

If the phenotype of heterozygotes is intermediate between both types of homozygotes, it would be equally justified to call the respective gene incompletely recessive as incompletely dominant and this has been done, depending whether the gene in question originally had been considered recessive or dominant. To avoid confusion, the uniform use of the term incomplete dominant for such genes is to be preferred. 

While the sequence of the human genome is known, the picture provided by genomics alone is both static and incomplete. Proteomics aims to identify the entire complement of proteins elaborated by a cell under diverse conditions. As genes are switched on and off, proteins are synthesized in particular cell types at specific times of growth or differentiation and in response to external stimuli. Muscle cells express proteins not expressed by neural cells, and the type of subunits present... 

Moving now from science fiction by philosophers to science fiction by scientists, we can describe circumstances under which evolutionary psychological explanations would be indisputably correct. Suppose, for instance, that rape was indeed caused by a particular module in the brain. This can be a module possessed by all males but activated only under certain circumstances (in which case, the explanation of rape will of course be incomplete), or a module peculiar to rapists. It must be a module produced by some set of genes, and those genes must have been selected in part, at least, because of their tendency to produce rape-generating brain modules. Generalising, we can identify the following three principles ... 

Other examples of important insight obtained by biochemical engineers are the effects that physiological values of fluid stress have on cells. Cells that line blood vessels are normally exposed to blood flow. This flow places a mechanical stress on a cell that not only alters cell shape but also its function. The mechanical stresses alter expression of genes. The mechanisms by which this occurs in cells are incompletely understood and a matter of active research. 

PMF is generally used to identify proteins that have been previously separated by 2-D GE so that additional information including the molecular weights and isoelectric points can be used to supplement PMF identification. PMF is not well suited for searching expressed sequence tag (EST) databases that contain incomplete gene coding information for particular ESTs and it is not adequate for the analysis of complex protein mixtures in solution.
