Gaskets inspections

Pass Bubbling below allowable level was visible gasket inspection showed no cuts possible trapped dirt or wrinkled gasket caused the bubbling. 

Inspect gasket surfaces for knots and irregularities. Look for bent dowel pins and misaligned jack bolts, dirt and any other factor that might lead to misalignment. 

Where definite loss of color by bleaching is noted, the content and container should be inspected to determine the cause. If correctable, such as a faulty gasket, broken container, etc, the gasket is changed or the powder is transferred to another container. A new strip of test paper is inserted and the proplnt replaced in storage with the container definitely marked to insure reinspection at the end of one year. 

The boiler doors and openings are closed, properly gasketed, and sealed. All protective sheets and covers are removed. Lockouts and tagouts are removed, and finally the unit is inspected before firing-up recommences. 

In larger plants, significant reductions in VOC emissions can usually be made by controlling major sources, such as tank venting, condensers and purges, and by inspection and maintenance of gaskets and shaft seals. 

Because of the chemical activity of Metraxt, the equipment used for application and vacuuming requires routine inspection and maintenance. Hoses and gaskets will have to be periodically inspected. Washing the foamer, its hoses and gaskets with soap and water and rinsing with water is recommended after each use to extend hfetime. 

Because these filters (Fig. 12) are made so that the leaves can be rolled from the filter quickly, they can be easily inspected for tears in the septum, leaks around the edges of the screens or around the gaskets in the manifold, improper precoating, and so forth. If the cake is blown dry in the filter before the leaves are removed from the filter shell, the cake will usually remain on the leaves so that it can be discharged either manually or by means of a vibrator. Hydraulic capacity of the leaves is usually not a problem, because their size need not be excessively large for the larger areas.

Large reservoirs and sumps should be equipped with inspection hatches and should have lips, gaskets, and compression clamps/bolts to control accidental dirt entry, ingression (dirt, wash-down sprays, etc.), and air movement.
