Garment approach

Proximity garment (approach suit) One- or two-piece overgarment with boot covers, gloves, and hood of aluminized nylon or cotton fabric. Normally worn over other protective clothing, firefighters bunker gear, or flame-retardant coveralls. [Pg.389]

Two types of approaches are available. In one, the fabric is padded with the cross-linker finish, dried, then sent to the garment cutter. The garments are then pressed and cured. In the second, the fabric is cured in fabric form, then fabricated into garments. It is then pressed and recured in hot-head presses. This double curing is particularly hard on the ceUulosic fiber in terms of strength and abrasion resistance. [Pg.445]

It is more difficult to produce pure wool easy care garments. The problem is to obtain adequate durability of the setting rather than obtaining shrink-resistance, because some wool setting processes are not stable to machine washing. As of ca 1997, the best approach is to combine the Synthappret BAP fabric shrink-resist process with Siroset garment setting. [Pg.353]

In case of personal protective fabrics, the bulk of ACF-based garments often results in thermal discomfort and physiological burden to the wearer. Therefore, it is necessary to create less bulky ACFs for enhanced physical comfort in chemical protective suits (Wilusz 2007). In order to achieve maximum protection and reasonable comfort, novel fabric ensembles with or without ACFs are necessary (Wilusz 2007 Gurudatt et al. 1997). An alternative approach to the use of ACFs for chemical protection is the use of functionalized selectively permeable membranes (Wilusz 2007). [Pg.208]

Although the first major commercial heavy-duty liquid composition was formulated with a builder system, the concentrations of builders and surfactants it delivered into the washing solution were lower than those provided by conventional detergent powders. As a liquid, however, the product possessed a unique convenience in use, particularly for full-strength application to specific soiled areas of garments. Convenience was accompanied by effectiveness, because the concentration of individual ingredients in the neat form approached that of a nonaqueous system. [Pg.5]

Approach, ye Sons of wisdom, and rejoice let us now rejoice together, for the reign of death is finished, and the Son doth rule. And he is invested with the red garment, and the scarlet colour is put on."... [Pg.67]

There are two main approaches in smart garments for monitoring biomechanics. One area is the use of inertial sensors together with advanced algorithms, the other area is the development of textile-based sensors (De Rossi and Veltink, 2010). [Pg.221]

According to previous research (Perusquia-Hernandez et al., 2014), a belly band approach is preferred by users. From the two types of closure, an open one was selected. Although an open structure is not clearly preferred, it is more difficult for the user to close open garments. Therefore, open versions have more areas of opportunity to be tested in fumre iterations. Finally, the users had more trouble using the garments without the simple instructions. Therefore, it is recommended to add some guidance on how to use the wearable. [Pg.255]
