Slotted beam or U-contacts describe a versatile design for the termination of soHd wire and require that the wire be pushed into a narrow slot between two moderately rigid tines, or beams, at the back end of the separable contact (Fig. 8). The edges of the beams displace the insulation, squee2e the wire, and keep it in compression for the life of the connection. This termination method was developed for terminating conductors in a gang using flexible flat cables with round conductors (5). [Pg.26]

Ganging alarms. Instead of individually issuing the point alarms, all alarms associated with a certain aspect of the process are simply wired to give a single trouble alarm. The responsibility rests entirely with the operator to determine the nature of the problem. [Pg.770]

Commercial bellows elements are usually hght-gange [of the order of (0.05 to 0.10 in) thick] and are available in stainless and other alloy steels, copper, and other nonferrons materials. Multi-ply bellows, bellows with external reinforcing rings, and toroidal contour bellows are available for higher pressures. Since bellows elements are ordinarily rated for strain ranges which involve repetitive yielding, predictable... [Pg.1001]

The actual diameter of the sands used during slow filtration typically lies between 0.15 and 0.35 mm. It is not necessary to use a ganged sand. The minimum thickness of the layer necessary for slow filtration is 0.3 to 0.4m, and the most efficient filtration thickness typically is at 2 to 3 cm. [Pg.250]
