Galli studies

Kochi (1956a, 1956b) and Dickerman et al. (1958, 1959) studied the kinetics of the Meerwein reaction of arenediazonium salts with acrylonitrile, styrene, and other alkenes, based on initial studies on the Sandmeyer reaction. The reactions were found to be first-order in diazonium ion and in cuprous ion. The relative rates of the addition to four alkenes (acrylonitrile, styrene, methyl acrylate, and methyl methacrylate) vary by a factor of only 1.55 (Dickerman et al., 1959). This result indicates that the aryl radical has a low selectivity. The kinetic data are consistent with the mechanism of Schemes 10-52 to 10-56, 10-58 and 10-59. This mechanism was strongly corroborated by Galli s work on the Sandmeyer reaction more than twenty years later (1981-89). 

CE is widely used for separation and quantification of organic acids (Stover, 1997). Many CE studies were performed to quantify organic acids in some food matrices (Erazier, 2001 Galli et al., 2003 Klampfl et al., 2000 Lindeberg, 1996). Many small organic acids can be well separated with CE (Boden et al., 2000 Mato et al., 2006a,b Navarrete et al., 2005). Those acids include acetic, citric, fumaric, lactic, maleic, malic, oxalic, pyruvic, succinic, and gluconic acids which can be separated by CE in a short time. 

Upon activation, mast cells release numerous mediators, including vasoactive amines, proteases, pro-inflammatory cytokines (e.g. IL-ip, IL-6, IL-18 and TNF-a) and also regulatory Th2 cytokines (e.g. IL-4, IL-10 and IL-13) (Burd et al., 1989 Gordon and Galli, 1990 Marietta el al., 1996 Toru et al., 1998 Aoki et al., 1999 Lorentz et al, 2000). Therefore, the mastocytosis in the infected mucosa represents an immunopathological rather than a protective response. Indeed, our studies have shown that expulsion of T. spiralis from TNF-Rl / or iNOS / mice was achieved in the absence of a substantial mastocytosis and subsequent amelioration of enteropathy (Lawrence etal., 1998, 2000).

Galli et al. (63,64) demonstrated that primary stenting of AMI with PC-coated stent leads to excellent short- and midterm clinical outcomes and a low restenosis, despite a reduced heparin therapy. As in other studies, the reported restenosis rate using the BiodivYsio stent in the small vessels is lower than that using any other metallic stents (46,47, 49,64-68).

Of the remaining orders, probably the best studied, from the perspective of the source of secretions and chemistry, are the true bugs (Hemiptera), particularly the male-produced sex pheromones of Pentatomidae (e.g. Aldrich et al., 1984) and female sex pheromones of scales and aphids (e.g. Moreno and Fargerlund 1975 Galli 1998).

Minisci, Galli and co-workers have studied a variety of radical reactions which result in the formation of organic azides. These processes commonly involve the interaction of an organic peroxide, an alkene, and azide ion in the presence of a ferrous-ferric redox system.
