Leaves with spots. Cause Tuliptree spot gall. Circular brown or purple spots surrounded by a circle of yellow on the leaves reveals the presence of tuliptree spot gall, caused by a kind of midge. Damaged leaves may fall early. While unsightly, the problem is not serious and is best countered by removing all affected fallen leaves. [Pg.146]
