There is an important difference here. Although the +1 future target did not exist at the time the percipient made his call, the -1 target did exist, not only in the experimental record but also in the percipient s mind. Because of the feedback, he knew what the immediately preceding target had been, a point to which we shall return in the section Bad Guessing Habits. ... 

The future targets of supramolecular photochemistry in CD chemistry will contain photoresponsive molecular machines, emission-based sensors, and energy transport systems. For construction of such systems, the design of three-dimen-sionally correct arrangement of component units will become important. The molecular modeling computation approach will be helpful for designing the systems and deeper understanding of structural features of chromophore-modified CDs and their complexes. 

When appropriately validated and understood, biomarkers present unique advantages as tools for exposure assessment (Gundert-Remy et al, 2003). Biomarkers provide indices of absorbed dose that account for all routes and integrate over a variety of sources of exposure (IPCS, 1993, 2001a). Certain biomarkers can be used to represent past exposure (e.g. lead in bone), recent exposure (e.g. arsenic in urine), and even future target tissue doses (e.g. pesticides in adipose tissue). Once absorbed dose is determined using biomarkers, the line has been crossed between external exposure and the dose metrics that reflect the pharmacokinetics and toxicokinetics of an agent (see section 5.3.3).
