Further Inter-relations

When dichloromethane (DCM) solutions of the polyenes which had been prepared as described (39) were added to DCM solutions of TFA new species were formed which had strong absorptions in the region 500-850 nm. Figure 6 shows seme typical spectra for such a solution, (a) immediately after mixing, (b) after a further 20 minutes and (c) after 200 minutes. In spectrum (a) clearly defined maxima are visible at 590, 660, 730 and 790 nm the intensities of which change with time in a way which indicates that they are inter-related (figure 7). As Arg0 decreases,... [Pg.229]

You will now understand why, being preoccupied, for the reasons already given, with a possible relation between the hemihedry of the tartrates and their rotative property, Mitscherlich s note of 1844 should recur to my memory. I thought at once that Mitscherlich was mistaken on one point. He had not observed that his double tartrate was hemihedral while his paratartrate was not. If this is so, the results in his note are no longer estraordinary and further, I should have, in this, the best test of my preconceived idea as to the inter-relation of hemihedry and the rotatory phenomenon. [Pg.7]

It is recognised that the fundamental inter-relations between structures, lattice, interactions, microscopic and macroscopic properties would be (and indeed is) a challenging task for basic research and an indispensable pre-requisite for a broad introduction of ICPs in commercial applications. Conversely, in view of the excessively one-sided strategic orientation of research work and the resulting less time, there is now an urgent need to broaden the first significant commercial application if ICP research is to receive further substantial financial and intellectual support and not be condemned to lead a life of exotic isolation. [Pg.508]

Another new benzylisoquinoline, polycarpine (18), has been isolated from the trunk bark of Enantia polycarpa-, its structure has been determined by spectroscopic and X-ray crystallographic methods. Macrantoridine (19 R = CO2H) and macrantaline (19 R = CH20H), both from Papaver pseudo-orientale, have been inter-related by the conversion of the former into the latter by reduction with lithium aluminium hydride, and since the latter can be further converted into the base (19 R = CH3) obtainable from narcotine, the stereochemistry of these two alkaloids is as shown. [Pg.92]

Schedule 1 to the Regulations specifies four inter-related factors of which the assessment should take account (the task, the load, the working environment and the individual s capabilities) and further questions relating to each are also identified in the Schedule. Consideration of these factors forms the basis of an appropriate assessment, some of which can be done in advance in a general way by means of generic assessments. [Pg.60]

In this Initial study of PTV, we have not developed a fully balanced set of processing parameters. This is Illustrated by the modest orientation indicated by the X-ray patterns.[17] Nevertheless, the current materials have a Young s modulus of 7 GPa, a tenacity of 0.5 GPa and a conductivity of 2000 S/cm a combination of properties which are adequate for conductive textile applications. It should be clear that further optimization of the inter-related processing variables will undoubtedly result in materials of superior quality. [Pg.187]
