The tautomerism of the pyrazino[2,3-f]-l,2,6-thiadiazine 2,2-dioxide ring present in compound 21 has been studied in solution <1998J(P2)1889>, particularly with reference to the acidity (p 1 ) of the H-N(l) (21, R = H) proton. Further advances in the study of the tautomeric forms of the systems that appear in this chapter have not appeared since CHEC-II(1996), and the detailed and interesting discussion contained therein remains pertinent <1996CHEC-II(7)785>. 

Theoretically, a number of other diseases affecting the pulmonary interstitium might be treated with gene therapy. These include interstitial pneumonitides and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. These approaches will depend upon further advancements in the study of the basic pathobiology of these disorders. 

Further advances in the interpretation of mineral data could come from in situ analyses (unfortunately only possible presently on U-Th rich accessory minerals like zircon), or from detailed studies of particularly large phenocrysts, whose successive growth zones could be sampled (e g., through microdrillings) and analyzed. Ra measurements in such crystals could allow a direct determination of their growth rates. A systematic study of successive, well-dated eruptions of a given volcano, combining U-series measurements in both whole rocks and minerals, should also help with the interpretation of mineral data.

These methodologies were also extended to study other water/oil interfacial systems with the properties of the oil being varied. Such a systematic study on water/oil interfaces has rarely been explored till now and, therefore, the present study contributes to further advances in the relevant researches. 

As a result of the experimental woik simmarized in this review the value of the gas chromatographic method for studying polymers seems to be well established. Surface and bulk properties of polymers can be measured both from a thermodynamic and kinetic point of view. Because of its simplicity and precision it should become the method of choice for the study of thermoch namic interactions of small molecule probes or solutes in systems where the prfymer is flie m or phase.
