The discussion presented in this section has centred on the principles of the most important colour display technologies, and is by no means exhaustive. There are numerous other technologies, currently either available or under development. Examples include electro-chromic, field emission and thin-film electroluminescent displays, the commercial viability of which will be determined in the years to come.
