Nitration of 4-hydroxybenzenetellurinic acid with a mixture of sulfuric and nitric acids yielded 4-hydroxy-3-nitrobenzenetellurinic acid and 4-hydroxy-3,5-dinitrobenzenetellurinic acid.  [Pg.347]

Irgolic Organic Tellurium Compounds with one Te,C Bond [Pg.348]

4-Hydroxy-3-nitrobenzenetellurinic Acid To 100 ml of cooled concentrated sulfuric acid are added in small portions 25.2 g (0.1 mol) of 4-hydroxybenzenetellurinic acid. This solution is stirred and a mixture of 6.2 mi of concentrated nitric acid (0.1 mol) with 6.2ml of concentrated sulfuric acid is added dropwise while maintaining the temperature of the reaction mixture at or below 0°. The temperature of the reaction mixture is allowed to rise to 10°, the mixture is carefully poured into 180 ml of water, and filtered after 24 h. The solid is boiled with water, filtered, and the solid dried yield 21 g (70%) m.p. 221° (dec.). [Pg.348]

With two moles of nitric acid per mole of tellurinic acid, 4-hydroxy-3,5-dinitrobenzenetellurinic acid was isolated in 60% yield.  [Pg.348]
