The Soliditech reagent mix contains aluminum, barium, calcium, chromium, copper, lead, nickel, and sodium. The reagent mix may increase the concentrations of these metals in the final solidified product. The temperature of the treated waste should remain above freezing. The process is generally limited to wastes with pHs between 2 and 12. Wastes with pHs below 2 and above 12 require neutralization before treatment. If the treated material is not adequately mixed, unmixed clumps of waste material will appear in the solidified product. The long-term stability of the solidified product is unknown. [Pg.982]

In addition to the three fundamental operations just described. Ihe freeze-drving process involves several other operations necessary to achieve an economically feasible system for large-scale production. The general commercial process comprises (I) Preparation of the material (2) freezing (.1) conditioning of the froz.cn mass (4) drying, that is. sublimation and desorption and (5) conditioning the product. See Fig. 3,... [Pg.682]

In general, it can be concluded that the main reason for the evolution of the salt framework during freeze-drying is the complicated diffusion of water vapor within the product particles caused by the specific micromorphology of frozen solutions. Such complications take place during ice sublimation from all cryoc-rystallization products and they can be considered as one of the main features of their freeze-drying processes. [Pg.588]

The objective of this article is to present the scientific and engineering fundamentals most useful in the development of formulations and processes for the manufacture of freeze-dried pharmaceuticals. Generalizations are illustrated with specific examples from the literature, but no attempt is made to survey all published works. Most of the section on the freeze-drying process applies equally well to small molecules and proteins, whereas most of the section on formulation and stability is specific to proteins. [Pg.1808]

Most heat-sensitive materials often undergo a freeze-drying process to minimize any quality degradation that may arise due to tanperature effects. Generally, freeze drying yields the highest quality product of any dehydration... [Pg.1119]

In general, the great majority of the products undergoing a freeze-drying process are processed from aqueous solutions. Nevertheless, both organic or water/organic... [Pg.264]
