Formation of plates

The results are reported of a study of plate-out in PVC extrusion carried out using several analytical techniques, including DSC, SEM-EDX, FTIR spectroscopy and laser ionisation mass spectrometry. A special die and calibrator unit developed to investigate plate-out are illustrated and the reproducibility of the method evaluated. The effects of water content and anti-plate-out additives, such as alumina and silica, on plate-out are discussed and mechanisms explaining the formation of plate-out are proposed. 11 refs.

Figure 12.18 presents the ratio a- to (S-Pb02 in PAM vs. current density on formation of plates produced wifli pastes of two different densities and formed at 43 °C in H2SO4 solutions of three relative densities [15]. 

No wiring pattern is formed on the top and bottom layers of the stack since a continuous conducting plane is required for the formation of plated through holes which is the next step following lamination. Finally, the wiring patterns are formed on the top and bottom planes.
