Properties. Colourless, foliated crystals easily soluble in w ater and dilute alcohol, less soluble ia absolute alcohol. 

Talc, unlike Che micas, consists of electrically neutral layers without the interleaving cations. It is valued for its softness, smoothrtess and dry lubricating properties, and for its whitertess, chermcal inertness and foliated structure. Its most important abdications are in ceramics, insecticides, paints and paper manufacture. The more familiar use in cosmetics and toilet preparations accounts for only 3% of world production which is about 5 Mt per annum. Half of this comes from Japan and the USA. and other major producers are Korea, the former Soviet Union, France and China. Talc and its more massive mineral form soapstone or steatite arc widely distributed throughout the world and many countries produce it for domestic consumption either by open-cast or underground mining.

In a recent analysis carried out for a bounded open system with a classically chaotic Hamiltonian, it has been argued that the weak form of the QCT is achieved by two parallel processes (B. Greenbaum et.al., ), explaining earlier numerical results (S. Habib et.al., 1998). First, the semiclassical approximation for quantum dynamics, which breaks down for classically chaotic systems due to overwhelming nonlocal interference, is recovered as the environmental interaction filters these effects. Second, the environmental noise restricts the foliation of the unstable manifold (the set of points which approach a hyperbolic point in reverse time) allowing the semiclassical wavefunction to track this modified classical geometry.

The granitoid pluton is mostly massive, with some isolated off-shoots of the pluton in the east show foliation in the NW-SE direction with moderate dips towards SW (Fig.1), which is parallel to the schistosity of the country-rock metapelites. Pegmatites and pegmatitic quartz veins occur in metasediments, spatially associated with the granites. 

In Cl chondrite-normalised REE plots (Fig. 3b), the foliated granites (IREE 200 ppm) show strongly fractionated LREE and flat HREE with (CeA b)N 50. The massive granites are relatively very low in REE (9 to 34 ppm), showing relatively flat to highly variable LREE and...
