4-Fluorophenyl isocyanate

Fluorophenyl isocyanate [1195-45-5] M 137.1, b 55°/8mm, n 1.514. Purify by repeated fractionation through an efficient column. If IR indicated that there is too much urea (in the presence of moisture the symmetrical urea is formed) then dissolve in dry EtOH-free CHCI3, filter, evaporate and distil. It is a pungent LACHRYMATORY liquid, [see Hardy J Chem Soc 2011 1934-, and Hickinbottom Reactions of Organic Compounds Longmans p. 493 1957.]...

Amino group of 2-amino-5-(2,4-difluorophenyl)-6H-pyrido[l,2-fc]pyrida-zin-6-one was reacted with (2-fluorophenyl)isocyanate, with 2,4-difluor-obenzoyl chloride to give 2-[N2-(2-fluorophenyl)ureido] and (2,4-difluor-obenzoyDamino derivatives, respectively (07USA2007/0129372). 

Poly substituted aryl isocyanates 236 and 238 were obtained with diphosgene in dioxane, ethyl acetate, or toluene from 3-fluoro-4-methoxyaniline 235 [164] and 3-amino-2,6-dichloro-4-fluorophenyl methyl carbonate 237 [165], respectively. Table 4.8 summarizes the reported substituted aryl isocyanate preparations with diphosgene.
