Flin Flon

Geological Setting The Talbot VMS Cu-Zn prospect is situated in the eastern extension of the Paleoproterozoic Flin Flon Belt (1.92 -1.88 Ga), north-western Manitoba (Stern et al. 1999). The prospect is located just northeast of Lake Talbot, about 160 km SE of Flin Flon (Fig. 1). Mineralization is hosted by medium to high-grade... [Pg.49]

At the White Lake Cu-Zn sulfide deposit (near Flin Flon, Manitoba) no geochemical signature had been obtained from conventional soil geochemistry. Where the deposit is overlain by 23m of barren rock and 8m of glacial overburden including an upper 1m of impermeable varved clay, a strong characteristic rabbit-ear H anomaly clearly indicates the location of the orebody, as predicted by the electrochemical model (Govett 1976). [Pg.48]

The Sherridon complex in northwest Manitoba is host to the Sherritt Gordon Cu-Zn mines that collectively produced some 8 million tonnes grading approximately 2% Cu and 5% Zn, as well as six other smaller unexploited Cu-Zn sulfide deposits. The Sherridon complex is one of several arc terranes that form the south flank of the Kisseynew Domain (Fig. 1), a metasedimentary terrane that is part of the Paleoproterozoic Trans-Hudson Orogen. The Kisseynew Domain is dominated by Bumtwood Group metasedimentary rocks and flanked by arc terranes, notably the Lynn Lake Belt to the north and the Flin Flon Belt on the southern flank (Fig. 1). [Pg.404]

On the other hand, it was found that N. variegatum (growing at Flin Flon, Manitoba, Canada) does not accumulate elements such as Zn, Cu, and Cd in amounts comparable to the water milfoil (Myriophyllum exalbescens) and so cannot be used as a biological indicator of contamination (6). The possibilities... [Pg.216]

In South Africa, the use of Huck Bolts or similar systems to secure the connections within shaft steel has become common. This same system was used in the shaft steel for the HudBay 777 Shaft project in Flin Flon, Manitoba, Canada. While very stable, they pose some challenges in construction and maintenance, as the Huck bolting machine itself is fairly cumbersome to work with in the shaft, and after construction is done, a machine must be left in the hands of maintenance personnel to remove bolts if necessary. [Pg.628]

Other vein deposits have lead isotopic compositions that closely approach a single stage generation. The origin of these deposits is problematical. In some localities, such as Aouli in North Africa, they may be related to formation of the nearby stratiform deposits at Mibladen, Morocco (Cahen et a/., 1958) however, there is not a stratiform deposit reported from the entire Churchill Province in North America with which to relate the Flin Flon vein deposit. [Pg.75]
